Sacramento ACT is in search of a Community Organizer with organizing experience to work with community members, congregations, and neighborhoods. Direct work experience can be fulfilled with work experience in teaching, training, development, academic preparation, and/or knowledge/lived experience of the people we serve.

What you will do:


You'll meet with community members individually, develop community leaders through Faith Based Community Organizing Trainings in small and large groups.  This position will work closely with Faith Leaders, Tribal Elders, and people of faith in the Sacramento region. 


This individual is expected to be a full participant in achieving the ACT mission, with specific responsibility to:

  • Meet regularly with community members to build relationships, identify interests, and create development plans.

  • Organize teams with Faith Leaders, Tribal Elders, and people of faith.

  • Collaborate with local coalitions and the PICO California Network.

  • Use online tools to engage individuals, share updates, and amplify messaging.

  • Maintain data and reports using BLOCKS and other systems.

  • Travel locally within Sacramento County (25% of your time); occasional statewide/national travel for events and training (as approved and based on COVID guidelines).


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Passion for Community Work: A strong desire to work with and empower diverse communities.

  • Communication Skills: Ability to listen, speak, and write clearly and respectfully in English.

  • Organizational Skills: Comfortable managing multiple tasks and responsibilities.

  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with email, social media, and video conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom).


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience volunteering or working in community service, teaching, or faith-based organizations.


Compensation: Starting at $25/hour with annual compensation reviews contingent upon budget and meeting employee goals. Automatic 5% 401k employer contribution after one year of employment and 1000 hours of work.  

Location: Sacramento County. This position is in-office and in the field to meet community leaders. 

Benefits: 100% company paid family health, dental healthcare, employee life insurance and long-term disability.  Employee qualifies for our 401k after one year of employment. A generous PTO package: End of year paid holiday (December 26th-New Years Day) + 13 Holidays + 12 Sick + 15 Vacation Days. Sacramento ACT may grant two (2) additional days for religious purposes, subject to Director approval.
