Our Mission

Sacramento ACT exists to activate people to reclaim their faith; to create change and healing in the community. Sacramento ACT is a faith-based organization that develops people through the power of storytelling and relationships to identify community issues and solutions.

We are Sacramento ACT

At Sacramento ACT, we get that life is complicated, and we know our communities face a lot of challenges. Our Local Organizing Committees (LOC) dive into the mix of issues like homelessness, mental health, public safety, youth, and immigration. We use that information to plan out strategies and campaigns that tackle the big problems in our area. We're like bridge builders, bringing all kinds of folks together to work on solutions. Our strength is making unlikely partnerships happen, because we know that's how we'll really make a difference.

What makes Sacramento ACT different from other organizations is our unique relationships with Congregations in the Sacramento area. Our organization was founded by Congregation members who wanted to create a better community for everyone through Community Organizing. Since its inception our Faith Leaders as a collective have been our moral compass and our shared faith values have guided us along the way. Read more about our moral frame work and congregation based organizing here.

Even if we can't reach every community directly, we're committed to helping our partners understand how organizing can shake things up for the better. We're here to share our organizing know-how and team up with partners to make the changes we're all dreaming of.

Join the Sacramento ACT Community!

There are a few different ways to be a part of our community.

Join as a Sacramento ACT Leader:

At Sacramento ACT we do not provide a service or give out materials. Our non profit focuses on developing people; as a result, we refer to our volunteers as leaders. When a leader joins Sacramento ACT, they will attend personal development trainings that will take them through our organizing cycle. Our hope is that our leaders will gain crucial leadership development skills to help them know how to build and exercise their own power to address the root causes of the problems they face.

Join as a Sacramento ACT Faith Leader:

Faith leaders, whether active, inactive, or retired, residing in the Sacramento County area, you are invited to join our Quarterly Faith Leader Caucus. This gathering serves as a forum for faith and spiritual leaders who seek to cultivate relationships with peers, offer mutual support, and provide guidance through the lens of their faith leadership.

You can make a difference. Support our work!

Your contribution empowers ordinary people
to transform our community.

Your donation help us to make volunteer development accessible and equitable for volunteers which includes: travel, transportation, child care, live/written translation services, meeting expenses and fellowship grants.

Sacred Writings that Guide ACT

Matthew 25: 40

Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.

Surah 5:8

O ye who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from Justice.  Be just:  that is next to piety, and fear Allah.  For Allah is well acquainted with all that ye do.

Baha'u'llah, Tablets of Baha'u'llah, p. 67

The light of men is Justice. Quench it not with the contrary winds of oppression and tyranny.

The Baha’i Faith

Isaiah 58: 6-8

No, this is the fast I desire:
To unlock fetters of wickedness,
And untie the cords of the yoke
To let the oppressed go free;
To break off every yoke.
It is to share your bread with the hungry,
And to take the wretched poor into your home;
When you see the naked, to clothe him,
And not to ignore your own kin.
Then shall your light burst through like the dawn
And your healing spring up quickly;
Your Vindicator shall march before you,
The Presence of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
